A team dedicated to out-reach patients in need either for Assertive community treatment or high risk patients. They manage the acute conditions and bring the patient safely to hospital for treatment.
We provide thorough clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. Our treatment tools are psychotherapy (talk therapy), medication, constant observation, family and marital therapy, group psychotherapy and individual psychotherapy. This is done through different schools of psychotherapy, for which one may mention:
Cognitive behavioral therapy CBT. Psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy supportive psychotherapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, paradoxical therapy, rational emotive psychotherapy, client centered psychotherapy, art therapy etc.
One of our really effective tools is ECT (electroconvulsive therapy). This type of treatment done only for indicated conditions and after the consent of the patient and his family. It is low energy electric current is applied for few seconds on the head of patient. The consultant anesthetist puts the patient into sleep so he does not feel anything during the ECT session . The feedback of the efficacy and effectiveness of this treatment is amazing inspite of the roomers around it.
Our most powerful treatment tool is admission. The patient stays in the hospital to get all the above mentioned modalities of assessment and treatment. He is in the hands of three different shifts to know him very well and give their reports to a team of consultant psychiatrists and psychologists. This team meets daily with the patient for further clinical assessment. Also meets the family and care givers of the patients regularly in the family intervention program. This program creates a comprehensive team that will follow up with patient at home after discharge from the hospital. This prevents relapse and decreases readmission. This is our signature service. We empower families on the life of their patients.
Serene has not stopped on treatment as usual in private sector. Serene established a center for family counselling to prevent psychiatric problems before they happen. Family counselling is a service for normal people to acquire prevention of psychiatric illnesse
We are empowering Bahraini teams to cover all these activities. The ministry of health in Bahrain recruited trained nurses, psychologists and doctors from our teams. Our psychiatrists participate in campaigns of drug abuse awareness and early intervention for mental health problems. We avail training programs for our staff as well as MOH staff. This credit hours activity learning approved by NHRA. We managed to get a Gold accreditation for 7 years from NHRA.
- We are the first specialized psychiatry hospital for inpatients and outpatient services in the private sector opened in 2015.
- This is a historical milestone in Bahrain and the GCC. We have the first licensed private psychiatric beds in the history of Bahrain.
